📖 Description:
Kanniyakumari derives its name from the goddess Kanniyakumari Amman. The presiding deity of the area Arulmigu Bhagavathiamman Temple is located at the confluence of three seas of the Indian south corner. The temple was constructed before three thousand years by Parasuram and then renovated by one of the kings of Pandiya dynasty. It is believed that goddess Bhagawati stood here as a spinster and she killed the demon Banasuran on Vijaya dashami, the last day of Navratri Festival. The temple is dedicated to goddess parvati as a virgin. She stands on an eternal visual protecting the shore of the country.
