விளக்கம் உதயகிரிக்கோட்டை கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்டம் பத்மனாபபுரம் தாலுகா, பத்மனாபபுரம் புலியூர் குறிச்சியில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இது வரலாற்று சிறப்பு மிக்க பகுதியாகும். 18 ம் நூற்றாண்டில் திருவிதாங்கூர் அரசர் மார்த்தாண்ட வர்மரால் மீளக்கட்டப்பட்டது. 90 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவு உள்ளடக்கியுள்ள இக்கோட்டைக்குள் 200 அடி உயரமுள்ள ஒரு மலைக்குன்று உள்ளது. இம்மலைக்குன்றை சுற்றி பாரிய கருங்கற்களால் கோட்டைச் சுவர் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. கோட்டைக்குள் பழங்கால பீரங்கி குண்டுகளை வார்ப்பதற்கான வார்ப்பு உலை ஒன்றும் உள்ளது. டச்சு போர்படை தளபதியான இயுஸ்ட்டாச்சியஸ் டிலோனாய் அவரது மனைவி மற்றும் மகன் ஆகியோரது சமாதிகள் இங்கு அமைந்துள்ள கிறிஸ்தவ சிற்றாலயத்திற்குள் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஒரு காலத்தில் இக்கோட்டை டச்சு போர்படை தளபதியான டிலோனாய் என்பவரின் பெயரிலே இக்கோட்டை அழைக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. உதயகிரிக்கோட்டை தற்போது தமிழக வனத்துறையின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ளது. இங்கு பல்லுயிரிணப் பூங்கா ஒன்று அமைக்கப்பட்டு புள்ளி மான்கள், மயில்கள், முயல்கள், சிறிய வகை கிளி வகைகள் ஆகியன பராமரிக்கப்படுகின்ற. மேலும் மீன் அருங்காட்சியகம் உள்ளது. மேலும் சுற்றுலா பயணிகளுக்கு பயன்படும் வகையில் சிற்றுண்டி சாலை அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
